In-line Skate Safety
In-line Skate Safety
- Always wear a helmet, knee and elbow pads, and wrist guards.
- Skate on the right side of paths, trails, and sidewalks.
- Pass people walking, people on bikes, and other skaters on the left.
- Stay away from uneven or broken pavement, water, oil or trash on the trail.
- Avoid places with lots of cars.
- Let walkers have the right of way.
- Your skates should fit snugly all around your foot with a little room at the toe.
- The boots should have air vents and hinged cuffs. If you can squeeze the boot it isn’t the right size for you.
- Wriggle the wheels to check the axle and bearings.
- Wear a thin sock under a little thicker sock to keep your feet dry and prevent blisters.
- Your dentist would probably like you to wear a mouthpiece.
